How we handle your data
We collect as little as possible, we never sell anything on, and you can always ask us what we hold about you.

Who processes your data?
The data controller is Joan of Art BV, trading as JOA, registered at Blaarstraat 99, 3700 Tongeren, Belgium, company number BE0776.355.039.
For any question about this policy or your data, email hi@joa-marketing.com or call +32 486 41 39 15.
The contact form
When you fill in the contact form, we process the details you enter yourself:
- your name
- your email address
- your company name (optional)
- your message
- the language you were browsing the site in
We use these solely to answer your question and to follow up on the contact that results from it. We do not use them for newsletters or advertising unless you separately ask us to.
The legal basis is your consent, given through the checkbox on the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing us.
Your message is delivered through Maileroo, our email service. No copy of your message is stored on this website.
Booking an appointment
The contact page carries a booking calendar from Trafft. When you book an appointment there, you provide your details directly to Trafft rather than to this website. Trafft processes them to schedule and confirm your appointment.
Trafft's own privacy policy also applies to that processing.
Website analytics
We measure how the website is used with Usermaven, in its privacy-preserving mode. That means no tracking cookies are placed and visitors are not followed across other websites.
We look at things like which pages are visited, which channel someone arrives through, and whether forms are completed or abandoned. We use this to improve the website, not to identify individuals.
We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, the measurement tools of our hosting provider. These work without cookies as well: a visit is recognised by a hash computed from the incoming request, and that hash is discarded after 24 hours. Speed Insights additionally measures how quickly pages load for real visitors.
This gives us aggregated figures only. No identifiers are collected that would allow you to be followed across other websites.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how our website performs.
Technical data
This website runs on Vercel. Like any web server, it records technical details of a visit, including your IP address, browser and the time. This is necessary to serve and secure the site.
The site's typefaces load through Adobe Fonts, which means Adobe sees your IP address.
Cookies and local storage
We do not place tracking cookies ourselves.
The analytics tools we use are cookieless as well.
We do store one preference locally in your browser: the language you chose, so your next visit opens in the right one. That storage holds no personal data and is never sent anywhere. You can clear it through your browser settings.
The embedded Trafft booking calendar may place its own cookies so that booking works.
How long do we keep your data?
We keep your data no longer than needed:
- Contact enquiries: for as long as we are following up your question and any resulting work, and at most two years after that.
- Booking data: held by Trafft, under their retention periods.
- Website analytics: in aggregated form, so not traceable to a person. Vercel's temporary identifier is discarded after 24 hours.
- Technical server logs: briefly, under our hosting provider's standard period.
Who do we share your data with?
We never sell your data and do not share it with third parties for marketing. We do work with service providers who process data on our behalf:
| Service | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Maileroo | delivers messages from the contact form |
| Trafft | processes appointments you book online |
| Usermaven | measures website usage |
| Vercel | hosts the website and measures traffic and page speed |
| Adobe Fonts | serves the typefaces |
Some of these parties may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where they do, it happens under the safeguards the law provides, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
At any time you have the right to:
- ask what data we hold about you
- have it corrected if it is wrong
- have it erased
- have the processing restricted
- receive your data in a portable format
- object to the processing
- withdraw consent you previously gave
Email hi@joa-marketing.com to exercise any of these. We reply within the legal period of one month.
Not satisfied?
If we cannot resolve it together, you can lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be.
Changes
If we change our website or the way we work, we update this policy. The date at the top shows when that last happened.
